Vietnam – The War That Made Australia is a major 3-part series that tells the extraordinary story of the Australian Army Training Team (aka ‘The Team’), an elite unit of soldiers sent to Vietnam in 1962 to train the South Vietnamese army to fight the communists. The Team remained in Vietnam for ten years and emerged as the most decorated unit in Australian military history.

What makes the Team’s story so unique is that, unlike regular Australian soldiers who only fought alongside other Australians, the men of the Team lived and fought alongside their South Vietnamese colleagues, often alone or in pairs.

Presenting candid and emotional interviews with surviving members of the Team, with their Vietnamese brothers-in-arms and with Vietnamese refugees the Team helped to resettle in Australia, this series shines a new and dramatic light on Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War.

Follow the story of the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam who, from 1962 to 1972, fought shoulder-to-shoulder with the Vietnamese army and became the most decorated unit of the Vietnam War.
