After recent nukes regarding 3D sources we see that clarification is required
for some of the groups / nukers. Saying that there is no rule that disallows
using 3D source is true, but there is also no rule saying that it’s allowed
Why? Because current ruleset applies to HDDVD and BluRay sources
NOT BluRay 3D, which is a different format. There is a reason why 3D and 2D
versions differ – in majority of movies (like in the ones that have been
recently nuked) the 3D version is mastered differently to adjust the picture
to be viewed in 3D. This often means different crop, boosted color, brightness
and white levels to give the viewer better 3D effect. Taking the left eye
picture from 3D disc and encoding it to 2D is not a valid way to make a 2D
release – such encode is just a crippled 3D for cyclops. Therefore encoding a
2D out of 3D is a technical flaw and doing it when there is a 2D disc 3cm away
in the same box is just plain stupidity
.
