With every major mass shooting in the past decade, youll find a small group of conspiracy theorists insisting the massacres never happened, dedicating their lives to proving that the tragedies were staged. These hoaxers seem to believe the government, the mainstream media, and a cohort of crisis actorswho they claim are fed lines and paid to appear on TVare putting out a false narrative about what really happened.

Some members of this cabal will stop at nothing in their pursuit of the truthgoing so far as to threaten mass shooting survivors, call victims families liars, and desecrate memorials to the dead. On this episode of HYSTERIA, VICE met up with a handful of mass shooting truthers to see how theyre terrorizing those affected by mass shootings from Sutherland Springs to Newtown to Parkland, Florida. We also met up with a handful of survivorsincluding Parklands David Hoggto find out what its like to be targeted by the conspiracy theorists firsthand.
