In 2015 TV ONE’s brand new series Our First Home aims to find out, as three Kiwi families put everything on the line to help their children onto the property ladder.
Bringing the fun, feel-good factor to the nation’s DIY obsession, Our First Home is a multi-night series that tells the story that thousands of New Zealanders are living today.
Home ownership is a powerful, emotional issue in New Zealand, and with property prices in our major cities soaring, the kind of security and certainty past parents and grandparents enjoyed is not afforded to the current generation. Many now look to their parents to help them out, which only adds to the pressure.
Our First Home will see three families taking part in what has become a Kiwi rite of passage, as they purchase and move into a potentially profitable do-up, then for ten weeks they renovate in a bid to add the most value to their property at auction.
Whether the family relationships survive the process, however, is a whole different story!
