Summary:
Australian Survivor (also known as Australian Celebrity Survivor during season two) is an Australian reality game show based on the popular international Survivor format. Following the basic premise of other international versions of the format, it features a group of contestants who are marooned in an isolated location, where they must provide food, water, fire, and shelter for themselves. The contestants compete in challenges for rewards and immunity from elimination. The contestants are progressively eliminated from the game as they are voted out by their fellow contestants until only one remains and is given the title of `Sole Australian Survivor` and is awarded the grand prize of A$500,000.

Australian Survivor was a television series based on the popular reality show Survivor. The series was filmed in November and December 2001 and aired weekly from 13 February – 15 May 2002 on Australia’s Nine Network. It was set at Whaler’s Way, an Eyre Peninsula coastal nature reserve in Port Lincoln, South Australia in the Great Australian Bight, where numerous ships had sunk off the coast in the past. This set up the nautical theme of the series.
